July 20 News
Welcome to our July edition of our blog.
July still continues to reveal its challenges during this strange time but we are delighted to share the success of our project Online Mindful Miniatures, funded by Arts Council England. In July we launched our second Tune Your Senses audio guide created by Susannah Tresilian. All involved in the project, whether as a member of the public or one of the Collective’s musicians have collaborated and created some incredible pieces of work. Take a look on our project page to delve into the diverse submissions and responses we have received! Thank you to all of those who have taken part, here are some words from our collaborators about the project:
‘Being involved in Mindful Miniatures was inspiring…The open-ended brief – allowing participants to interpret the project in whatever media they wanted – was refreshing, and felt inclusive. The project provided an accessible virtual space where I could express myself during lock-down, and the idea that a practitioner would develop my work into something else made me feel part of a larger project. In a climate of isolation, where there are few opportunities to create art, this project played a positive part in taking me away from the day-to-day, to think beyond lock-down, for a mindful moment.’ Lucy, Response 6
‘I was delighted to take part and find some creative focus at a time when the future seems very uncertain. Keeping Patrick’s poem and photograph at the forefront of my mind for a few days before making my response was a lovely way to collaborate at distance, with creative freedom for both parties.’ Graham South – Trumpet, Response 7

Some of our members have managed to have a few days break to the countryside to relax and be with family. Gemma took part in some online workshops as part of Weekend of Improvisation in Glasgow IV led by each of the 4 members of ICEBERG. They have been doing some really great things during lock-down and here is a link to their collaboration sharings. In other news, Naomi adopted a rescue greyhound named Soya and is really enjoying the new found companionship from a very lovely lazy dog!
That’s it from us for now. We hope you all stay safe and well and we’ll see you in August.
